MCT launches new branding initiative

For more than 40 years, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre has been dedicated to producing intimate, high-quality plays that engage and challenge audiences, while nurturing top-caliber local artists. This summer, MCT will launch its first-ever branding campaign, designed to promote that mission throughout southeast Wisconsin and re-emphasize what makes this company a unique home for lovers of the written word translated to the stage. In short, MCT is "Where Great Stories Come to Life" - both the title of the campaign and the company's guiding motto going forward.

MCT Branding Brochure CoverThe campaign marks the culmination of two years' development in partnership with Feller Design, who worked with MCT staff to determine how they were already describing the company internally, and translate that into a more eloquent message to share with audiences, supporters and the Milwaukee community at large. Through those discussions, one concept kept rising to the top: the idea that being a part of MCT means becoming a storyteller - the shared goal of every member of the company, regardless of job title.

Significantly, "Where Great Stories Come to Life" is not a re-branding of MCT, says marketing director Matthew Reddin, but merely a restatement of the principles that have driven the company for years. "Before we began this process, we knew how to tell other people's stories, but hadn't taken the time to think about our own," he says. "Nothing will change about the kind of work we're doing, because we already have a strong, diverse artistic vision. The difference is that now we know how to put that vision into words offstage as well as onstage."

As part of this summer campaign, MCT has commissioned a brand-new brochure focused on the company as a whole, and will host an online contest inviting participants to "Tell Us Your Story." Beginning on June 26 (when single tickets go on sale for the new season), MCT fans from Wisconsin and Illinois with great stories of their own will have the opportunity to share them with the company and enter to win prizes including a private preview of MIRACLE ON SOUTH DIVISION STREET, the third play in MCT's 2017-2018 season, "The Mysteries of Life."

Contest entries will consist of a single true story, 500 words or less in length. Participants will be able to submit their stories until July 14, at 5:00 p.m., after which three finalists will be selected. Those finalists will be invited to a private Storytelling Celebration on Wednesday, July 26, when their stories will be presented live by local actors and a final winner will be named.
