Monday, September 12, 2016

True to its mission of nurturing local theatre artists, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) presents the Montgomery Davis Play Development Series staged reading of BLUE BULLETS by Wisconsin playwright Alvaro Saar Rios on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. The reading will be directed by Sheri Williams Pannell and features Liz Faraglia, Karl Oye Iglesias, Ray Jivoff, Chiké Johnson, Michelle Lopez-Rios and Shayne Steliga.

BLUE BULLETS is set in Houston, Texas in 1977. As protesters organize and call for "No More Blue Bullets" in the wake of rampant police brutality, the locals gather at Señora Ramirez' bakery for pan dulce and wrestle with the question of how a community should respond to these turbulent times.

Alvaro Saar Rios' plays have been performed in Milwaukee, New York City, Hawaii, London and all over Rios' home state of Texas. Rios has written plays for First Stage, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, The Roberto Hernandez Center at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the Zoological Society of Milwaukee. His play LUCHADORA! was named one of the 15 best plays of 2014-15 in Milwaukee by OnMilwaukee. Rios holds an MFA in writing for the stage and screen from Northwestern University. Rios currently lives in Milwaukee and teaches playwriting at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

BLUE BULLETS will be performed on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in the Skylight Bar & Bistro, located on the second level of the Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N.
